Summary

Richard is a middle-aged Englishman who runs a B&B in the Vallée de Follet。 Nothing ever happens to Richard, and really that’s the way he likes it。

Until scandal erupts in the nearby town of Saint-Sauver when its famous restaurant is downgraded from three ‘Michelin’ stars to two。 The restaurant is shamed, the local cheese producers are humiliated, the town is in shock and the leading goat’s cheese supplier drowns himself in one of his own pasteurisation tanks。 Or does he?

Valérie d’Orçay, staying at Richard Ainsworth’s B&B while house-hunting in the area, isn’t convinced that it’s a suicide。 Despite his misgivings, Richard is drawn into Valérie’s investigation, and finds himself becoming a major player。

This was a little slow to start, but once I got into it, I loved it。 Richard is a proper British man aim France, fitting in but standing out at the same time。 When he teams up with Valérie, the story gets even better。 The old film references throughout were fab, they worked really well。 It kept me guessing to nearly the end about whodunnit, I changed my mind about 3 times!I’m now going to get the first in the series, and keep my eye out for the next one。Just brilliant。

A quiet life。’Many thanks to Insta Book Tours and Farrago books for my copy of this book and spot on the blog tour 。。。more

I am so lucky to be able to say I have read the first book in the series。 I found that one such a fun read, so when Death and Fromage popped into my inbox I had to accept。 I was dying to see if Ian Moore had managed to write another blinder, and, for me, yes he has。 In fact I don't know how but its even better that the first。 A hilarious murder mystery that brings the reader into a crazy weird, but,oh so, intriguing, investigation to find a murderer, this time the connection is cheese?! Yes you read right。 Just go on and pick it up。。。you know you want too。 The characters just felt I was returning back to friends。 They are authentic and relatable too。 Even, the mysterious Valerie。 The setting is just as solid as it was in the first book。 I love visiting France from my front room。 Even if it is to try to solve murders, that keep on coming! I am really looking forward to my next armchair holiday to France。 。。。more

This is the second installment to the Follet Valley series, but worked very well as a standalone book too。 I found this a slow paced but fun(?) murder mystery novel。 Its exactly as I expected, a bizarre but intriguing quest to find a murderer amongst the cheese!I loved Valerie's character, she's very mysterious, and there's always the shadow of doubt surrounding her; but I also had a lot of confidence that she could solve the crime。 Although, I did end the book with some more questions about her This is the second installment to the Follet Valley series, but worked very well as a standalone book too。 I found this a slow paced but fun(?) murder mystery novel。 Its exactly as I expected, a bizarre but intriguing quest to find a murderer amongst the cheese!I loved Valerie's character, she's very mysterious, and there's always the shadow of doubt surrounding her; but I also had a lot of confidence that she could solve the crime。 Although, I did end the book with some more questions about her character。 The French setting is portrayed well, and I could picture the different restaurants and the surroundings they were in。 It had me dreaming of a nice sunny French holiday with wine and good food, despite the hostile chefs and murders piling up。。I definitely look forward to reading the next book in the Follet Valley series, and I'll also be looking for the first book as soon as possible。 。。。more
